How SIP Telephony Works

Consider the example where a person calls from a PC with installed SIP-client to company that uses SIP telephony:

During the call the special program (codec) compresses the customers voice into a digital signal. This speeds up the connection and decreases the network load. The signal is transmitted to the device that the company uses (PC, SIP phone, etc.). Two devices find each other by the IP-address and start a session via the SIP-protocol. The signal is converted to analog back, and the manager receiving the call hears the usual voice of the client.
